IMU has signed an agreement appointing Southern Marine and Aviation (SMA), Inc. as an MGA. Based in Houston, Texas, Southern Marine and Aviation is a marine-specialty Managing General Agent with a 50-year history of writing commercial marine and cargo insurance.

The results are in and the winner of the coveted Flagship award for 2007 is IMU’s New England Region. “It has been several years since we were last named as the winner!” exclaimed an excited Meredith Atwood; AVP and Regional Manager. The Flagship award is presented annually to the region whose performance is noteworthy. The New England region grew in a very difficult market, and exceeded its profit plan at the same time, proving that profitable growth is in fact achievable.

IMU has expanded its property coverage for its marina and yacht club packages as well as its Commercial Marine Package (CMP) to include equipment breakdown coverage. This enhancement is provided to new and renewal customers on the effective date of their coverage starting on 1/1/2008.

The 2006 Flagship award winner is the Southeastern Region. Co-winners in 2004 the Southeast once again generated results that lead the company in both growth and profit. IMU has established a Yacht Underwriting Center for quoting and processing private Pleasure craft business. The goal is to achieve greater processing efficiency and underwriting consistency by utilizing a dedicated team of specialists in a single location. Ongoing producer relationships will still be shared between the IMU regional offices and the Yacht Underwriting Center. The IMU Yacht service center is located in Annapolis MD. Well the results are in and the 2005 Flagship award goes to the Pacific Region. The Flagship award is presented annually to the IMU region which produced the best combination of Profit, Growth, and Teamwork. "This award is even more special this year because it coincides with the retirement of our long time regional leader Mr. David Crowne." voiced new regional manager Ben Walbridge. IMU has launched a new Web-based cargo insurance service platform. IMU's ocean cargo customers and producers can use the system to issue electronic certificates of insurance, complete shipment and storage declarations online and create reports on demand. In addition, IMUCargo.com enables users to meet letter-of-credit requirements through form flexibility; issue documentation in a multilingual format; customize documents and create templates for repeated use; and print and send documents via the Web. The system also allows third parties to verify certificate numbers.

Additional features for storage and shipment servicing include: online management of storage, shipment and turnover declarations; automatic coverage validation and premium calculation for shipments of any
complexity; document and report issuance in PDF or Excel formats. IMUCargo.com is administered by Oceanwide, Inc., a leading provider of Web-based cargo insurance management software.

Bob has been President of IMU for the past five years and has been a tremendous asset to the IMU team. (IN UNITED STATES AND IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES)

U.S. RESTRICTIONS - The U.S. Government, through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), has determined that American citizens (companies or individuals) may not generally do business with governments / companies / individuals in certain foreign nations. These prohibitions apply to marine insurance as well as other types of business. Please understand that OFAC regulations are complicated and that they vary from country to country. In some cases, certain items may be insured (i.e. humanitarian aid) notwithstanding the general prohibition. In general, however, it is likely that you are prohibited from writing the marine insurance on risks associated with these countries. For much greater detail, click onto OFAC's website.

    New York, New York (June 2004) - IMU changes Underwriting Company effective 7/1/2004.
OneBeacon Insurance Group consists of a number of licensed companies for the purpose of writing multi-state risks and offering specialized products such as ocean marine insurance. To take full advantage of these companies and to streamline internal operations, OneBeacon is realigning company tiers and programs to be consistent across the states. Therefore, we are moving International Marine Underwriters (IMU) business from OneBeacon America Insurance Company or Camden Fire Insurance Association to The Northern Assurance Company of America. As part of the OneBeacon pool of insurance companies, The Northern Assurance Company of America carries the same A.M. Best rating of A (excellent). This change will effect all new and renewal business effective 7/1/2004 and beyond.

     
   

Palos Heights, Illinois (June 2004) - Midwest Region wins Flagship award in 2003.
This year the coveted Flagship award was presented to IMU's Midwest Region. The Flagship award is an annual event in recognition of the IMU region contributing growth, great results and the intangible winning spirit ! "This is very special to us here in the Midwest region because for years we felt that what we lacked in size was more than offset by what we contributed in quality underwriting, and great team spirit!!" said Annie Solomon IMU's Midwest regional manager.

    New York, New York (June 2003) - The prestigious IMU Flagship Award winner for 2002 was the Atlantic Region. They enjoyed a 2002 which incorporated significant growth over the prior year along with a combined ratio which was the best in the company!. It is a milestone achievement and demonstrated the power of a focused team effort!! Michele O'Donovan and her team accepted the award from Chairman Jim Zrebiec and then enjoyed a breakfast hosted by IMU Marine Headquarters which commenced immediately after the presentation.     New York, New York (October 1, 2002) - Our new web site is a part of an enhanced communications plan. The launch of the web site coincides with the release of a new capabilities brochure that, together, are meant to reach out to potential clients and to advertise IMU marine products and services. The web site allows clients to access information about IMU and our array of Marine Products, while also providing downloadable applications for our producers.

In the near future, we will expand the functionality of our site to provide to our producers online access to Producer Experience Reports, Commission Statements, and Online Claims Status and Updates. Check out our advertisement in the October 2002 issue of American Agent & Broker magazine.
